    Journal of East China Normal University(Educationa    2010, 28 (1): 21-27.
    Abstract1175)   HTML32)
The research of teacher learning in China is still at its initial stage. It should step into the stage of its conscious construction as a field from the stage characterized by everyday words. According to the relative research of teacher learning based on cognitive theory, social-cultural activity theory, complexity thinking and schooling reform, Chinese research in this field should be more complex in its methodology, more field-crossing in its researchers and pay more attention to the topics of “reform” and “collaboration”.

An Exploration of Perceptual Symbol Systems
    WANG Rui-ming&MO Lei
    Journal of East China Normal University(Educationa    2010, 28 (1): 36-41.
    Abstract1296)   HTML36)
A classical issue in cognitive science is about how knowledge is represented in the human brain. One dominant explanation was the prepositional symbol systems, but recently Barsalou proposed a new theory—perceptual symbol systems. The perceptual symbol systems is one representative theory of the second-generation cognitive science. It argues that perceptual representations rather than prepositions representations are the building blocks of cognition and supported by many experiments. However, the new theory has its disadvantage and need more and more attention.

Metacognition and effective learning: Principles and conditions
    Chen Qishan&Wen Zhonglin
    Journal of East China Normal University(Educationa    2010, 28 (1): 53-59.
    Abstract1271)   HTML34)
Metacognitive monitoring and control are central to self-regulated learning. Many models of self-regulated learning assume that learning is a dynamic process in which a learner monitors and evaluates his or her progress towards some learning goals and uses this information to regulate his or her studies. The principles and conditions of self-regulated learning were discussed in this paper. Accurate metacognitive monitoring will produce more effective regulation, and this in turn will improve learning. In other words, to make effective decisions about what to study or how long to study, the learner must accurately monitor his or her learning so as to identify materials that he or she will benefit most from restudy. Unfortunately, students’ monitoring is often quite poor and sometimes even misleading. We reviewed and commented several recent studies by focusing their attempt to enhance monitoring accuracy. The most important result for self-regulated learning is that accurate monitoring not only is achievable, but also may improve test performance via effective regulation.

    Abstract1571)   HTML32)
The domain knowledge is a new area of cognitive learning research. The research shows that domain knowledge in individual cognitive can enhance the capacity of working memory, improving the ability of information prediction, helping form the cognitive skills and strengthen the meta-cognitive monitor and so on. Disciplinary domain knowledge is provided with value and significance of learning from students and disciplinary teaching transfer, thus forms the idea of research of disciplinary domain knowledge. The research of disciplinary domain knowledge is the disciplinary teaching of domain knowledge and the intellectual category of disciplinary teaching and students’ learning, in the following: in the aspect of the organization of disciplinary content, the disciplinary unit knowledge can be reorganized into the disciplinary domain knowledge blocks which is composed of the scientific principal, cognitive process knowledge and problematic condition knowledge that is integrate, interactive and dynamic. In the aspect of disciplinary teaching, the effectiveness and the content of disciplinary teaching can be improved by two kinds of teaching strategies——fabric type and supplement type. In the aspect of disciplinary research, we develop the knowledge representation research of disciplinary domain knowledge and explore the establishment of modeling of disciplinary learning.

Influenced by the Embody Philosophy, the study of embody cognition had been well developed. Affordance which is the core concept of Gibson’s direct perception theory has interested many researchers. And they take the orientation effect just as a form of expression of Affordance. There are two main hypothesis about the orientation effect: The affordance hypothesis and the attention-directing hypothesis. The article summarized the research and hypothesis of orientation effect, and gave a brief review and outlook.

Instruction life is not only a “surrounding world”, but also a “common world”, and it is the course of significance life existence, renovation, and continuation of teachers and students. It is unitive with human daily life, it is contrived life and life for human, and it has same structure with huamn grow-up. In utilitarianism age, instruction life was pulled by many kinds of exterior benefits and aims, and its speciality was cleared up. If we want to recover its natural value attribute and get rid of bondage of exterior power and utilitarianism restriction, we should clarify its value and regress to the approaches of paying attention to life and living, enriching instruction activity methods, and thinking much of instruction scene establishment.

    Journal of East China Normal University(Educationa    2010, 28 (3): 54-60.
    Abstract1223)   HTML26)
The paradigm of Evolutionary Psychology is confronting the difficult of lacking empiristic evidence from cognition area; and on the other hand, studies about inductive inference lack powerful approach. This article mentions that explaining inductive inference under the paradigm of EP would solve the problems of both. The function-analysis-method and view of domain specificity of EP will suggest the new approach of inductive inference; and empiristic studies of inductive inference will offer EP with more experimental evidence. At last, the article suggests that inductive inference should be a domain specificity mechanism shaped by evolution.

    Journal of East China Normal University(Educationa    2010, 28 (3): 61-67.
    Abstract1449)   HTML28)
This study explored the relationship among theory of mind (ToM), cooperative behavior and Machiavellianism in primary school children. The methods included several ToM tasks (such as the faux pas understanding tasks, the white lie tasks and the story comprehension tasks), a cooperative behavior task and Kiddie Mach. 90 primary school children from grade 2, 4 and 6 were involved. The result indicates: (1) There exists a significantly positive correlation between children’s ToM and their cooperative behavior. The degree of ToM can forecast that of cooperative behavior. (2) Children’s ToM is not significantly related to their Machiavellianism. (3) There is a significantly negative correlation between children’s cooperative behavior and their Machiavellianism. The degree of high Machiavellianism group’s cooperative behavior is much lower than that of low Machiavellianism group.

When we distribute some educational resources in school ,Equal Principle , Different Principle and Compensatory Principle seldom help us to settle the problems. Otherwise , Correlative Principle not only possesses strong feasibility of realities , can help to maintenance the independence of schools , and help to realize the maximal benefits of the distributing of the resources. Of course , there are two dangers in Correlative Principle: one is the predomination of “dominating good ”,the other is the stinking of the Maximal Principle. Therefore ,we should pay attention to treat them dialecticly in reality.

Gratitude is a heated spot in the research of personality psychology in western psychology recently. The social-cognitive model of gratitude considers that benefit appraisals mediated the relationship between trait and state levels of gratitude, and the relationship between different situations and state gratitude. Many reseachers tested the model and conducted deep research into the relationship between gratitude and subjective well-being, prosocial behavior and indebtedness. As the results show, gratitude is a robust predictor of well-being; grateful people tend to have more prosocial behaviors; and gratitude cannot be equated with indebtedness.

    Journal of East China Normal University(Educationa    2010, 28 (4): 50-55.
    Abstract1440)   HTML41)
This review compares the cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression strategies with respect to their effects on emotional responses and their neural underpinnings. Cognitive reappraisal not only reduces subjective emotion experience but also decreases the sympathetic responses and deactivates the emotion-related brain such as amygdala and medial orbitofrontal cortex, while expressive suppression leads to sympathetic and medial orbitofrontal cortex activations. Although cognitive reappraisal is more effective than expressive suppression in daily life, and better for people’s physical and mental health, repressor behavior can be a pragmatic form of coping that helps people deal effectively with extremely aversive events. What’s more, in this paper the author presents that conduct the research on the aspect of unawareness, develop the researching paradigm, expand the researching range and conduct the research from the view of educational neuroscience, all of these may be the researching trends of emotion regulation strategies and its neural basis.
